ROSENWALD SCHOOL ACRES' 2022 EARTH DAY ENTERTAINMENT

Return to the roots of... GREAT MUSIC!

A TRIBUTE TO  THE MUSIC OF THE CALVIN OWENS BLUES ORCHESTRA WILL BE SHARED BY OUR FESTIVAL DJ

Music was a central part of the curriculum Calvin Owens' 3rd cousin  SAMUEL WALKER HOUSTON and the faculty of the Rosenwald funded Sam W. Houston Industrial and Training School offered.  In fact, Professor Houston was  an outstanding multi-instrumentist, arranger and composer.

A long line of musical performers can be found in  generations of the Houston/Kittrell/Wilson family... including  Ida Wilson Pennebacker's  early 20th century European concert pianist daughter, Margarita Pennybacker;  Charie Wilson's son,   Maestro Calvin Owens of the Calvin Owens Blues Orchestra (http://moshows.com/calvin.html )  BB King's composer and orchestra conductor for over 16 years; Charlie's grandson  the late El'Ray Wiseman, Jr.captain of the award-winning Kashmere Stage Band,;  and his  classically trained granddaughter, singer and international "edu-tainer"  Kijana Wiseman, M.Ed (www.kjana.com )  (See below).
