Community Beneficiary

Caring for the Founders...

Rosenwald School Acres' Kittrell-Wilson Cemetery Restoration and Maintenance.  This cemetery is where the bodies of the Rosenwald School founders and primary caregivers are buried. 50% of  donations raised will help repair the overgrown 1/4 mile access trail  from Rosenwall Road to the Cemetery gate;  renovate the headstones and purchase headstones for folk who are missing one.

The project  also helps re-purpose the old Rosenwald School grounds towards creating an earth-friendly, zero-emission, atmospheric water generated, solar-powered multi-generational community space!

The Houston Informer and Texas Freeman newspaper first hit the streets in 1893. The newspaper became the hub of a multi-city chain chronicling newsmakers for Black communities in Houston, Dallas, Galveston, Huntsville,  Beaumont,  Austin, New Orleans and greater East Texas.--unifying the communities  they served. By the 1950s, the paper became a major player in advancing the call for civil rights for citizens of African descent.

“Step Back In Time”

The exhibit showcasing the accomplishments and impact the Publishers of the Houston Informer and Texas Freeman had on eliciting positive change with Texas and the nation.
